first i graduated staying in bed, then i graduated the wheelchair, and lastly the cane. now im walking with no assistance. i can walk uphill, upsteps, but walking downhills or down steps are still a challenge. im starting to regain sensation on my right elbow and right forearm but my right knee cap and right shoulder are still numb as hell. ive been going to the gym working out on selected machines such as the leg press, leg extension, side lateral, leg curl, and cable flyes. its depressing to see myself now only leg pressing 2 plates max where in the past ive done 24 plates including a person sitting on top of the damn platform. this, i rationalized that i had more fun slowly building my muscle and relearning my maxes than being stuck forever at a weight plateau. im also beginning to realize that i severed the nerve controlling my right deltoid. since the hospital, ive noticed my right arm feeling very heavy. i thought it was the cast and the atrophied muscles. since my shoulders used to be the most prominent muscle, i thought it would be easy to rebuild them. then slowly, my whole right arm shrank from the delt to the forearm. doing side laterals everyday didnt make a difference. now i assume that the numbness and the heavy arm feeling is caused by a cut nerve controlling my right shoulder. without the nerve it wont fire, without the impulses, there are no muscle fibers to contract. im screwed.
couple nights ago, ive read all my past blogs. it was very interesting. and of course europe was the best part. talking about travelling, me and a couple chink friends decided to go to hong kong this june. my friends are stressed out from working and i can use a couple weeks for the ultimate rehab purpose. i dont know why took a sudden interest in hong kong from all my bashing on my own ethnicity, but i thought it would be fun for our turn to be FOBS in their country. the last time ive been there was in '87 and ive heard it has changed so much. so my mom started to teach me how to read and write chinese every night (i told you i was bored). i want the ultimate experience in hong kong where i am able to communicate and read the store signs. i even thought about buying a one-way ticket there and work with my uncles. i have filthy rich relatives there whos gonna let us use their extra house and a 21 year old cousin wholl show us the hot spots. im going to dress fob and spit, fart, burp, and pick my nose in public. chinese girls eat your heart out! for everyone out there, make the best of your younger years and have fun; we are getting old fast.
